Levels of literacy vary but all communities are “film-literate, making film the perfect medium to engage people in & share the processes of change. A film makes complicated concepts & places accessible to the most varied groups of people.

Beanland uses film as a 3-way tool: to share information, to promote good ideas & to research outcomes. To ensure accurate research we do the footwork needed to record qualitative and quantitative outcomes of new initiatives in an engaging way. Thereby our documenting via film not only evaluates projects, it brings them to life - in a way no written report can.

We treat film primarily as a research & development tool, using documentary techniques to gather authentic evidence directly from the people and events involved in projects and campaigns. So, though we never forget popular appeal, we wont sacrifice accuracy for it.

We will use narrative skills to structure our research into an engaging film to articulate and promote innovative projects. Our experience with the Scottish government and HIE proved that the added value of our films was to consolidate community confidence, accelerate the process of change & provide templates for like minded projects.
